Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) - Overview Press Release
11/29/2001
BIODESIGN International® offers antibodies and antigens to
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). RSV is so named from the
formation of syncytia, or multinucleated masses of fused cells.
Two virally specified surface glycoproteins are prominent in
RSV. The large glycoprotein is designated G and the other fusion
protein is designated F. In addition, two distinct Groups may be
present in RSV, Group A and/or Group B.
BIODESIGN has monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies specific for
G protein or specific for F protein as well as antibodies
specific for both. Most antibodies do not cross react with other
viruses such as Parainfluenza 1-3, Influenza A&B or
Adenovirus. Antibody applications may include immunoassays,
immunohistochemistry and Western blot.
BIODESIGN¡¯s RSV antigen is a partially pure antigen
preparation of the Long Strain, cultured in FRhK cells. Tested
application includes lateral flow assay. Other respiratory
infection related antibodies and antigens available from
BIODESIGN include: Bacillus anthracis, Chlamydia pneumoniae,
Chlamydia trachomatis, Influenza A, Influenza B, Mycobacterium
tuberculosis, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Parainfluenza 1, 2, 3 and
Parainfluenza 1-3, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus Group A,
Streptococcus pneumoniae and more¡
