Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics (GPB) is
sponsored by the Institute of Genetics and Developmental
Biology of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), managed and
edited by Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI), CAS, and published
by the Science Press, Beijing, China. GPB. welcomes
high-quality research papers presenting novel data on the
topics of genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics. New data
are published as research papers in the form of original
articles and research letters. Papers describing innovative
methods and techniques as well as resources providing primary
scientific information to a broad readership are also valued
by GPB. The journal publishes comprehensive reviews either as
full articles or as mini-reviews. Commentaries and opinions
about new discoveries, scientific policies, and research
proposals are accepted after editorial reviews.

Preparation of Manuscripts A cover letter should
include: (a) name, address, telephone number, FAX number, and
E-mail address of author(s) responsible for correspondences
regarding the manuscript; (b) a statement that the manuscript
has been read and approved by all listed authors; (c) a list
of potential referees, and if desired, a (reasonable) list of
individuals with potential conflict, as we work very hard to
avoid sending manuscripts to competitors for review; (d) any
specific requirements for reproduction of artwork; (e) status
of any statements of personal communication or other
permissions needed (any data presented as unpublished results
from individuals other than the authors require permission for
use). The title page should include: the title, all authors
names and institutions, the corresponding author's complete
contact information, a running title (50 characters or less,
including spaces), at least two key words, and sources of
grants or funding supports and personal acknowledgments).
General manuscript format: Manuscripts must be written in
English. We prefer the manuscript be written in active rather
than passive voice. Manuscript sections should be presented in
the following order: title page, ABSTRACT (the abstract should
be no more than 200 words), INTRODUCTION, RESULTS, DISCUSSION,
METHODS, ACKNOWLEDGMENTS, REFERENCES, followed by figure
legends, figures, and tables.
References are of two types: Standard article and book
references and website references. Article and book
references. Number references in the order of their first
mention in the text. Undated citations (unpublished, in
preparation, personal communication) should include first
initials and last names of authors, e.g. (H.M. Yang personal
communication) and do not appear in the reference
list. Note that all authors' names should be listed when
there are not more than two authors in a reference. If there
are three or more authors, only the name of the first author
should be listed in the reference, followed by et al.
Bibliographic information should be supplied in the following
order. 1. Yu, J., et al. 2002. Minimal introns are not
"junk". Genome Research 12:1185-1189. 2. Yang, H.M. and Yu,
J. 2001. Genomic Sequencing. In Genome Science and Human
Diseases (ed. Chen, Z., et al.), pp.12-24. Science Press,
Beijing, China.
Website References: If the paper includes website URLs as
references for places where material was obtained for
performing the work, the URL should be included next to that
information in the text.
Submission of Manuscripts Two copies of a
manuscript with original figures should be submitted to the
editorial office of GPB. All submissions to the journal will
undergo an initial editorial review. Those selected by the
Editor as suitable for the scope and aims of the journal will
be peer-reviewed. All selected manuscripts will be reviewed by
three scholars for a decision on acceptance, revision, or
rejection within three months. After acceptance a paper will
be published mainly in chronological order. The journal
only accepts papers that present original research that has
not been published previously. Submission to the journal
implies that another journal or book is not currently
considering the paper for publication.
Proofs Page proofs will be sent to the
corresponding author(s) for checking and correction of
typographical errors and should be returned before the date
specified.
