As part of the global Lilly Research Laboratories IT (LRL IT) organization, the individual in this role is accountable to work with the LRL IT Research Dedicated group and broader IT components to implement specific local capabilities and global solutions at the LCRDC site in China, while also recommending and supporting solutions in support of the overall multi-site research plans of the company. This role will report directly to the Team Leader at the LCRDC site. The successful candidate for this Biology IT Systems Manager will be accountable to: • Work as an aligned and contributing member of the LRL IT Global Organization. • Understand the global and local LRL Research scientific/business with specific emphasis on Biology - and logistics-related systems. • Effectively work with business and IT peers to recommend and implement China and global IT projects in support of LRL’s Research mission. • Recommend, implement, and transition LRL Research to standardized processes by leveraging existing or emerging systems and minimize the overall IT assets. KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES: • Works onsite to deliver the LCRDC implementation plan and sustain biology-related IT systems and infrastructure at this site. • Understands, supports, and trains on-site personnel on appropriate existing and in-process assets within a site- or biology subset of the LRL Research IT Portfolio. (e.g. electronic laboratory notebook, assay development and storage of results, experiment design, target identification and validation, etc.). • Partners with site-specific and global LRL Research scientists to understand business needs and priorities. • Recommends appropriate process, information and technology approaches that address LRL Research needs based on balanced scientific and technical knowledge. • Works to position recommendations within the context of the multi-generational roadmaps and associated transformation plans for the LRL IT Research assets. • Works with LRL IT management and the Solution Delivery organization to recommend, prioritize, develop, and integrate solutions into the LRL Research process and retire replaced assets. • Accountable to execute LRL IT Research priorities and work to manage expectations in support of delivering these priorities to LRL partners. • Troubleshoots LRL LCRDC IT Process, Asset, and Infrastructure issues from the biologist’s perspective and actively works to resolve issues quickly and efficiently. • Insures effective change management for assets in conjunction with support organizations. • As needed for the global LRL IT organization manages and/or provides oversight to Asia-based partners and partner project work. • An active contributor on Lilly’s long term strategy from the IT perspective. The successful candidate will provide NMR structure elucidation expertise in an interactive environment using a mixture of resources and data from open access instrumentation, dedicated research instruments and external partners. Job Responsibilities: • In supporting the discovery of small molecule novel therapies, the candidate will provide detailed NMR characterization expertise in a range of areas including: structure determination, stereochemistry elucidation, conformational analysis and probing molecular motion. The candidate will also have responsibility for rapid turnaround open access systems. • Pro–actively apply deep knowledge and act as a technical resource to deliver high quality solutions, process and problem solving on a wide range of structure determination challenges faced daily by the synthetic chemists.
