生物通报道：糖生物学（Glycobiology）是糖的化学和生物学研究相结合而产生的一门新兴学科，近20年来糖生物学研究取得了很多重要成就。本周《Nature》的专题内容就是Glycochemistry & Glycobiology。

碳水化合物（carbohydrates）在生物过程中的重要性长久以来并未获得充分的认识。现在利用合成，修饰，寡聚糖（oligosaccharides）和复合糖（glycoconjugates）研究，我们对于这些生物分子正在加速深入了解，这些认知有助于我们筛选以碳水化合物为基础的诊断，药物和治疗方法。目前许多国家对糖生物学研究都给予了足够的支持和重视，糖生物学已成为生命科学研究的前沿和新热点.
