MicroRNA (miRNA) 是一类由内源基因编码的长度约为22 个核苷酸的非编码单链RNA 分子,它们在动植物中参与转录后基因表达调控。包括miRNASiRNAPiRNA等等。它们是基因表达、修饰、转录和翻译的调节者。

 

据编辑介绍,这次的专题中收录了大量的microRNA的研究性文章,这些paper可加深读者对microRNA的了解,从microRNA生物合成机制,microRNA对基因的调控研究,microRNA对疾病发生发展的影响,到microRNA对生命体的发育以及疾病治疗,本期的专题给了读者丰富了microRNA精神食粮。

 

不仅是小分子非编码RNA可调节基因转录,连miRNA合成过程中的前体RNA也能发挥类似的作用。这方面的代表作非Davis等人2008年在Nature发表的一篇文章末可,他们发现miRNA前体与SMAD共同调控转录后翻译过程。

 

小小的miRNA可抑制基因表达,然而,miRNA降解mRNA和抑制转录的精细机制却一直不为人所知,Selbach等人及Baek等人分别在2008年发表的文章中详细地解析了单个miRNA对目标mRNA降解的过程,通过定量分析了解miRNA的机制。
