【编者按】如今要取得博士学位必需要有SCI文章，许多人因此纷纷投稿英文期刊。许多人在投稿英文期刊时会遇到这样或那样的问题，生物通将就这个问题为大家提供系列的文章。首先介绍的是一位审阅过200余篇稿、以英语为母语的审稿人写的中国人常范的错误，相信这些错误具有一定代表性，希望能够帮助各位正在为paper奋斗的莘莘学子们。

在中国式英语里面最经常会看到非常长的句子，因为作者总是用中文思考后直接翻译成为英文。要写英文长句子需要有很扎实的英文基础，而且科技论文的目的是让审稿人明白文章内容，越简单明了越好。中文可以接受一个句子里放入多个支持观点以体现之间的关系；在英文中最好讲主要观点与每个支持观点放在不同的句子里面。

如果一个句子超过60个单词，那么可以认为找个句子有点长了。尽管有些句子并没有超过60个单词，但是想表达太多内容，以至混淆了主要的意思，那么这也可以定义为一个long sentence。想要克服这个毛病，最关键的就是不要心急的想在一个句子中写太多的意思，一个句子有一到两个主题就足够了。曾经看过一位同学的Self-statement，一句话就把一件事情全写完了。感觉就是前言不搭后语，根本不知道想说什么。因此，感觉有千言万语，最好也是从头慢慢说起。在想强调的时候可以使用分号（"）。下面看看资深审稿人是如何修改这些长句子的吧。

Too long According to the characteristic of fan-coil air-conditioning systems, this paper derives the cooling formula of fan-coil units based on the heat transfer theories and puts forward a new method to gauge cooling named Cooling Metering on the Airside,which can monitor the individual air-conditioning cooling consumption during a period of time by detecting the parameters of inlet air condition-temperature and humidity-of the fan-coil air-conditioning system as well as the parameters of inlet cooling water provided by the chiller.

另一类型在科技论文中长出现的长句子就是清单。作者会把许多数据，通常就是一些参数放在一个超长的句子里。其实，这个时候不如列个表格。
